Nice try, but it's Nagoya City. Back

Nagoya City is 400 km (249 miles) far from Nagareyama-city.

Approximatery, it takes 2 hours and 30 minutes by rail.

Nagoya is the biggest city in central part of Japan.  Last year " EXPO 2005 AICHI JAPAN " was held and many foreigners visited here. It was once founded by Tokugawa Ieyasu who established the Edo Shogunate( 1603 - 1867 ) in Tokyo later.

And now it prospers as a leader of central Japan.  And it must to be remembered that " Toyota Motor Corp. " is located here.

Since old days, a precision industry was prosperous in Nagoya and its circumference.

After the mechanical clock was transmitted to Japan from Europe in the 16th century, production of Japanese mechanical puppets " Karakuri-ningyou " was prospered.  In the 18th century, many wonderful Karakuri-ningyous were made in this area.  At about the same time, similar mechanical puppets called " auto-mata " began to appear in faraway Europe.

Gifu Prefecture which is in the north direction of Nagoya was prosperous in woodwork business.  For 500 years since the 8th century, excellent woodwork engineers and excellent carpenters were invited to the capital city for the purpose of construction of the Palace, temples, shrines and City.  They were called " Takumi " meaning Meister in German.
